2010 National Convention

Convention time is approaching quickly, so we have put together some information that may be useful.
Convention Venues
Almost all venues being used during the convention are within walking distance in Ulverstone.
The Civic Centre will host the business sessions, opening ceremony, welcome social, farewell brunch and public speaking finals.
The Rowing Club will host the National Presidents Handover and Farewell Social.
KG’s will host the Awards Luncheon.

What else is happening at the Convention?
On Wednesday afternoon we will be running a Taste of Tasmania display, were you are able to sample some of the fine fares our State has to offer as well as other activities you may wish to partake in while you are visiting the Apple Isle.
On Thursday non delegates can visit Anvers (chocolate), Ashgrove (cheese) and Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm.
Thursday night State Dinners have been replaced by an All State Apexian Ten Pin Bowls Championship which will be held in Devonport. Let’s see which State has the biggest balls.
On Saturday, delegates will get the chance to get out and about and experience Tasmania. We are hoping to offer 3 tour choices:
- Cradle Mountain
- Gunns Plains & Leven Canyon
- Anvers, Ashgrove and Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm

Ulverstone is a central location for experiencing some of the best Tasmania has to offer some of which include:

Getting Around
The 2010 National Convention will be held in the Ulverstone Civic Centre, which is centrally located. All other venues are a short walking distance from the Civic Centre. Ulverstone is about 16km from Devonport, 17km from Penguin, 32km from Burnie and 106km from Launceston.
Accommodation
There are a number of accommodation venues in Ulverstone and surrounding areas. You can support the local Apex Club and stay at the Ulverstone Apex Caravan Park (03 6425 2935).

Weather
The average temperature for the Cradle Valley region in July is 4-13 degrees Celsius. The average rainfall is 100 millimetres. We will do our best to put on the good weather, however you should come prepared for the cold and rain. If you intend to visit Cradle Mountain you may also experience snow.
