3-9 December Event: Coastcare Week

About: Coastcare Week is a nationwide initiative to highlight not only the iconic nature of the great Aussie coastline, but also the erosion and damage left behind by many who are literally loving our coast to death.
With almost 17m visitors every year to Aussie beaches, and the rise in popularity of activities such as whale watching, fishing, snorkelling and boating, the threat to the coastline is real.

Event: International Volunteer Day 2007

About: December 5th was declared as International Volunteer Day (IVD) by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985. The first IVD was celebrated in l986 by dozens of countries world-wide. Activities ranged from clean-up campaigns and round table conferences to competitions and exhibitions. In Australia , IVD has been designated as a day for the recognition of volunteer involvement, a day in which organisations can thank their volunteer staff.
