Mount Barker Back on Track
The Mount Barker Apex Club (SA) has inducted 8 new members on the 18 January 2013. It has provided a new outlook for the club with new ideas to keep the club moving forward. The club was not looking in good shape as we were down to 3 members and very close to folding. But with the dedication of the 3 members and past members and other Apex Clubs who did not want to see the club fold we decided to hold an information evening. We sent out about 400 fliers around the district, and with help from past members (who did not want to see the club folder either), encourage people they knew and family to come along to the information night to see what Apex was about. On the night we had 4 people turn up, and we enlisted the help of Kadina Apex Club who drove from Kadina on the night to give a talk about the postie bike ride, and also highlighted other events Mount Barker holds and has done. Murraylands Apex Club members also attended to show their support. After the information night we held the next dinner meeting a week later as more of an information night so as not to scare off the new people. At this meeting we had 5 new members turn up, and they knew a couple more people. It was different having a full room with 12 people at a meeting instead of 4 people. This is now a new chapter in the clubs history we can now start to do more and better things. To date we have helped at the Clean Up Australia Day, cooked a BBQ at the local skate park competition, and will continue with our golf day that we hold every year which we can now take to the next level. The photo below shows all new and existing members taken on the induction night 18 January 2013.
