Berowra Woodchop

Berowra Apex Club's biggest annual event is the Berowra Woodchop.  Woodchop 2025 went off with a blast on a Saturday in September. From 10am until 4pm we filled Warrina Oval with world-class competitive wood-chopping action, live music all day, a diverse market area and rides for the kids.  This is an entirely Apex organised event with all raised funds quickly going back into local community groups.

I would like to highlight a few of our members who have put in a huge effort in recent years:

  1. Rambo orchestrates the whole event, delegating activities and ensuring they happen

  2. Digit manages our stages ensuring we include local community groups including the schools and attract a number of bands to keep the crowds entertained

  3. Cookie coordinates stalls both in the lead up and on the day.  Ensuring stall holders are placed correctly, enter and leave the oval safely and have the required insurances and more in place.

This is a whole club event with hundreds of volunteer hours on the day alongside an early start and then a late finish at the pub for a well deserved beer.

The weather was great, we had tens of thousands of people in attendance and the event continues to grow year on year as we learn, experiment and optimise. While we raise significant funds for our local community groups, the primary reason we do this is to foster a strong community around Berowra.  The event is free to attend and has something for everyone, it is by far the largest event of its kind in our area.
