Ensuring No Child Misses Out: Apex Backs Busselton Primary School Camp

This August, Year 6 students from Busselton Primary School will head to “Dare Adventures” in Dwellingup for their annual school camp—a rite of passage filled with excitement, challenge, and personal growth. Over three days, students will take part in a range of outdoor activities including flying fox, abseiling, rock climbing, archery, a commando course, team-building games, and bushwalking. The camp offers more than just fun—it plays a crucial role in helping students develop independence, confidence, and teamwork skills as they prepare to transition to high school.

However, this important experience was at risk of being cancelled due to unforeseen funding issues. In response, the school reached out to the Apex Club of Busselton at the end of Term 2. The local club promptly applied for a WA Civilian Widows grant through the Apex Foundation, successfully securing $7,200 to help cover transport, accommodation, meals, and activity costs.

“The Apex Foundation wants to make sure that no child is left behind,” said Apex Club secretary Allen Hingston. “This aligns with our club’s values, so when we heard the camp might not go ahead, we knew we had to act. Year 6 camp is a memorable milestone, and we believe in supporting experiences that foster community and positive change in young lives.”

Deputy Principal Sean Tyndall expressed the school’s deep appreciation. “Our school values every child and their unique perspectives. On behalf of the entire school community, we sincerely thank the Apex Club of Busselton and the Apex Foundation for their ongoing support.”
