Wongan Hills Apex Club 2025 Recap

Formed in 1963 and looking forward to celebrating our 1300th Dinner Meeting in November 2025 the club has a long proud history of serving the Wongan-Ballidu community.

Recently the Club celebrated its annual changeover dinner at the Wongan Hills Hotel. President Dale Booth welcomed guests, Life Members, Senior Actives and members to the annual dinner and reflected on the club’s achievements over the past 12 months.

This year (1 July 24 – 30 June 25) the club was very active in the community carrying out almost 400 hours of service over various projects.

The club was awarded Apex Australia’s “Club of the Year” at the 2024 National Convention in Toowoomba which was attended by Dannielle Reed, Mel & Mick Godfrey.

At the 2025 Aussie Day Breakfast, the club was awarded the Wongan-Ballidu Shire “Community Event of the Year” for our Bogan Bingo night. Held in February 2024, the event was a huge success, raising an impressive $11,500 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). The club also hosted another Bogan Bingo event in 2025 raising a further $8,500 for the RFDS. Both events wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the local community and local businesses who generously donated cash and prizes for both events.

Current members are Dale Booth (President), Melinda Godfrey (Secretary), Tab Dedman (Treasurer), Mick Godfrey, Neil McQueen, Colin Fowler & Colleen Timmins.

Despite being a small club, we are a dedicated group of volunteers who are very active in the local community. We meet the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month at the Apex Shed behind the Civic Centre.

If you are interested in learning more about Apex or coming along, contact Dale Booth, Mel Godfrey or any of our members to find out more.
