Maleny Apex Club Revving Up Success at Muscle on the Mountain

The Maleny Apex Club once again proved that passion and teamwork can move mountains — or at least fill them with muscle cars. This year’s Muscle on the Mountain event was a roaring success, drawing over 700 show cars and enthusiasts from across Queensland and New South Wales.

The event grossed nearly $25,000, a testament to the scale and popularity of the show. But behind the shine of chrome and the growl of engines lies an incredible amount of community effort. In total, the event took around 150 volunteer hours to set up and run on the day. As event coordinator Boyd Keir humbly admits, his own hours in the lead-up are “very different,” though he never counts them — a reflection of the club’s quiet dedication.

Preparation begins months in advance, with members coordinating logistics, sponsorships, and club participation. This year, seven local car clubs joined forces with Maleny Apex, showcasing the strong sense of community spirit that drives the event.

The day before the show, members were already hard at work from early morning until evening, ensuring every detail was in place. On the big day, the team was back at it by 5 a.m., while the Rotary Club (RC) made the 2.5-hour drive to arrive by 6 a.m.ready to assist.

Crowds flocked from all corners of Southeast Queensland, with some traveling from New South Wales and as far north as Central Queensland to be part of the spectacle. The event officially ran from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., but it took until 5 p.m. before the showgrounds were restored to their usual state — a full day’s effort that capped off months of preparation.

“Muscle on the Mountain isn’t just a car show,” said one club member. “It’s about community, camaraderie, and the satisfaction of seeing everyone come together for a great cause.”

With another successful event in the books, the Manley Apex Club continues to prove that with enough heart — and horsepower — anything is possible.
